About "The Fountainhead" mini Survey
I chatted with a Japanese guy and Vanessa one day. The guy mentioned that he is reading the book "The Fountainhead" recently in his leisure time. He said many of his American co-workers read this book when they were in high school. It is a well known book. At the very beginning, I think it is just an American culture. And Vanessa told us she read this book also when she was studying high school in the Philippines. She and her classmates even based on "The Fountainhead" story to play a drama.
I surfed on the wikipedia for the title of the book. It was written in 1943 by Ayn Rand, a Russian-born American novelist and philosopher. She is best known for creating a philosophy she named "Objectivism". One of the famous statement in the book is "Man's ego is the fountainhead of human progress". It’s a remarkable book of the age. Emmm...what kind of education of the Americans and Filipinos receive in high school? They are encouraged to read such deep meaning book. Because of that, I am curious to know how many people know about this book and start to ask my friends. My Taiwan friend read it when she attended school in America. She thinks local Taiwan students do not know about this book also. Up to now, only one of my Hong Kong friends knows this book. You can read his comment on my previous article. But his case is an exception.
"The Fountainhead" leads me to think about Hong Kong education. Why don't we have chances to touch on some world famous books and different school of thoughts while we were young at school? What’s wrong with our education system? Syllabus is made simple to match our standard? Please don’t under estimate the learning capability of a kid. Here is an interesting example:

Who are LGBT?
G = Gay (男同性戀者)
B = Bi-sexual (雙性戀者)
T = Trans-gender (變性人)
I shared my point of view on bi-sexual with Vanessa. I am disgusted with that. If one day, your boyfriend said he falls in love with a man, how do you feel? And he comes back to you next day and wants to continue the relationship with you because he thinks you are his most-loved one. Will you accept his love again?
Vanessa disagreed with me. She thinks bi-sexual people are those who love the others not by their gender but their soul.
I am neither L nor B, and definitely not T. I am opened to know more nice and good looking men!

Jose Rizal
Wednesday, June 20, 2007
CHISEEN
(Click here & see the blog: CHISEEN)
It's worth to read it, at least you can learn colloquial American English.
I found that his blog has bilingual version (click here to see) in traditional and simpilfied chinese. That version is under a website named "alive not dead". It is "an online artistic community uniting musicians, filmmakers, and other artists with their fans" (words excerpted from their homepage). Is it a new business model of running such kind of website?

SPREAD (RED)
Vanity Fair - The Africa Covers
Annie Leibovitz shot 21 people for 20 different covers of Vanity Fair, July issue. To find out more, click onto VANITYFAIR.COM
For this special issue, Graydon Carter, Bono, and Annie Leibovitz collaborated on the unprecedented set of 20 covers to show a prominent group of people having a "conversation" about Africa. "It's a visual chain letter," says Leibovitz, "spreading the message from person to person to person."
果然, (RED)是商業活動, it is simply a Business Model.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Heineken is as cold as San Francisco Summer。友人說, 《湯姆·索亞歷險記》的作者, 美國著名作家馬克吐溫Mark Twain曾說過, 他從未感受過如三藩市般寒冷的夏天, "The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco." - (This quote has been attributed to Mark Twain, but until the attribution can be verified, the quote should not be regarded as authentic.

Capsule Design Festival
看Frate Antique Street Shows的網頁, 他們限定參展商的資格, 在此引述 "An antique is determined by the age of the object. Could be anything ranging from a piece of furniture to art. The US government considers any item over 100 years old to be an antique, whereas most collectors use 50 years as a benchmark. Frate & Associates also uses 50 years as a benchmark. Genuine Antiques & Collectibles Only."

"My name is Pride. I bring gay pride and freedom. I love to wear the rainbow flag to celebrate diversity. Let me out of my little celluloid closet and display me proudly!"
P.S.
輯錄自檔主的網站: "Folk Charms® is a registered trademark and all charms and text are copyrighted.

3 short films (Warning: for aged 18 or above)
Sugar Baby Love
Baby Baby
Love Stories (Link to YouTube, you've to login and aged 18 or above)
Yesterday I wandered in BORDERS bookshop at Stonestown Galleria where just 15 mins walk from my home. I heard an interesting conversation between a father and a son. A 3 years old little boy talked to his father and said, " THIS IS MY FAVOURITE BOOKSHOP!" His father replied, " GOOD ATTITUDE!"
I also saw interesting phenomena. Bookshops in the United States are popular hang out places, because most of them have coffee shops inside. The beautifully decorated kids' corners also attract parents to bring their kids in. It's true that bookshops are lovely places for all walks of life. And I saw the books talking about SEX (with detailed photos on bodies postures) without plastic-wrap are displayed at the eye-catching bargain corner. Everyone can easily access those books. No parents think it's a problem. At least I cannot see an adult reported this to the shop keepers. I think, it all depends on right and good attitude.
I am quite long-winded because I want to show 2 short films here. They are in a series, aired in France to promote safe sex. Some people may think the content are sensative. That's why I have to make a preemption. I know gays love the "Sugar Baby" one very much, they think the video speaks their hearts. The third one "Love Stories" you can see it on YouTube if you login.

Levi's 2007 NEW Collection
雖然沒有機會看Shots(集合世界廣告片和MTV的DVD, 通常是廣告公司訂購給員工參考, 因為售價很貴, 一年訂閱6期, 盛惠USD$1174.5, 若你有閒錢的話, 不妨訂購, 實在好看), 但在網上看到世界Update的廣告, 也好!

The Force is strong with you. Perhaps too strong. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but you have already voted today."
