I went to Burlingame and San Mateo today. These places are quite far away form SF downtown. The best way to get there is by driving or taking BART train. Luckily, a nice lady drove me there. We, together with Miss S, went to see a movie, which is called"Pan's Labyrinth". The theatre is at San Mateo.
The movie is grogerous, the production team members are from Mexico, Spain and America. These joint working forces make a magic. "If this is Magic realism, it is also the work of a Real Magician." by A.O. Scott, The New York Times. No wonder why it has 6 Adcademy Awards Nomination, including, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Makeup and Best Art Direction. I wish it will wipe all those prizes in Oscar.
The story is about a twelve year old girl's imagination. The special effect and make up are stunning. I love the monster who has eyes on his hands very much. Those who love fairy tales should adore this movie. My comment is "Two thumbs up".
Synopsis from Apple Trailer:
"Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro delivers a unique, richly imagined epic with PAN’S LABYRINTH, a gothic fairytale set against the postwar repression of Franco’s Spain. Harnessing the formal characteristics of classic folklore to a 20th Century landscape, del Toro delivers a timeless tale of good and evil, bravery and sacrifice, love and loss."

P.S. Thanks for two ladies sharing a nice day with me. A ticket costs me USD$9.75, quite expensive! It's free seating in US theatre, good for those who are on time. (SF time Feb 5, 0.41)
Surf on the web and see a blogger's comment on the moive, together with detailed storyline.

I am missing Robert Ko(蘿蔔糕)especially the home made ones. Americans food are good? Are you kidding?
